Welcome to Nomad Over 50.

I’m Martin Gram, a full-time digital nomad in my fifties.

After living in Mexico for nearly two decades, I left everything behind and started a new chapter as a digital nomad in Asia. Since then, I’ve been traveling slowly through places like Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam, documenting what it’s actually like to live this lifestyle after 50.

If you’ve ever wondered what happens after the honeymoon phase of travel wears off, or whether a place could actually work for longer-term living, that’s what you’ll find here.

Most of the writing comes from spending weeks or months in a place rather than a few days.

Some articles are reflections on places that stayed with me. Others explore what daily life actually feels like after the novelty fades. And some are practical guides for people considering a longer stay.

I’m less interested in checking attractions off a list and more interested in understanding what a place feels like once it becomes part of everyday life.

If you’re wondering whether a location is somewhere you could actually live, not just visit, you’ll probably feel at home here.

Start With These Articles

Bali

Bali is often misunderstood.

These articles go beyond the usual travel content and focus on what Bali felt like after spending time there.

Penang

Penang was one of those places that revealed itself slowly.

If you’re interested in slow travel, location-independent living, and understanding what places feel like beyond first impressions, you’re in the right place.

Thanks for being here.
